Returning to Civilian Life After a Military Career Can Be Challenging
It’s common for former military personnel to struggle to fully adapt in the early years of their new civilian careers. They often need help to navigate the culture change they are experiencing. They’re used to a certain orderliness and to becoming an expert at a particular job through extensive training.
In post-military life, the path forward is not always linear or clearly defined.
Hoping for Fulfilling Work Isn’t Going to Change Anything
After military service, it takes some people years to figure out how to find fulfillment in a new career.

Gene Was Where
You Are Now
Gene Moran served as a US Navy Surface Warfare Officer, retiring as a Captain after serving 24 years. He commanded multi-ship operations in the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf. Ashore, he worked at the Navy headquarters level advising Secretaries of the Navy, Chiefs of Naval Operations, and Vice Chiefs of Naval Operations on legislative policy and budget negotiations with Congress.
He has also worked as a detailee, a senior Navy officer on loan to Congress, to the personal office of the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Additionally, he served in uniform as the Navy’s principal liaison for the Senate and for appropriations matters in both the House and Senate.
Gene thought the corporate route would make sense having observed others follow that same path of least resistance after active duty. He found the experience unfulfilling and took too long to recognize why.
He now operates his own successful consulting firm, Capitol Integration, which has afforded him control over his time, the companies he works with, and when, where and how he will work.
Now he offers a navigational guide for those transitioning out of the military and considering the next steps—or anybody facing a major career change. His story is both an example and practical guide to dream big and achieve big things.
“Gene was meant to write this book.”

100% of the Proceeds of Make Your Move Go To Freedom Fighter Outdoors
Freedom Fighter Outdoors started as an awareness of the physical, mental and emotional suffering of the men and women who served our country in the military.
Vinnie LaSorsa decided to do something about it in 2009.
Since that time, Freedom Fighter Outdoors has been raising awareness and seeking public aid for needs, services and activities for injured veterans.
Their events facilitate injured veterans in assisting each other through teamwork by providing unique, once in a lifetime outdoor activities.
In honor of our nation’s veterans, 100% of the proceeds of this book are being donated to support Freedom Fighter Outdoors.
